About Project

 

"Determination of the best fitting energy mix and demand side management options for University of Moratuwa - Department of Mechanical Engineering as case study" is a research carried out by final year undergraduate students as a part of their bachelor degree.

Aim

Propose the best fitting energy mix and demand side management options to minimize total carbon emissions and energy cost of the University of Moratuwa with improved energy security.

Methodology
  • Study  energy policies & tariff system of Srilanka

  • Explore energy consumption pattern of UOM & conduct Walk through energy audit for DOME

  • Identify the energy saving opportunities and possibility of using renewable energy resources

  • Organize an awareness program through poster campaign and publishing on web site       about energy consumption and energy saving strategies

  • Monitor the present electricity usage

  • Optimize the best fitting energy mix by using Homer legacy software

Objectives
  • To determine and identify     energy consumption in university

  • To investigate energy efficient measures to cater the demand and possibility of energy savings

  • To develop a plan to have the best fitting energy mix for Department of Mechanical Engineering  with sustainability- a case study
